Vidrala achieves the highest rating in Climate Change according to the Carbon Disclosure Project

Grupo Vidrala has received an 'A-' rating for Climate Change and 'B' for Water Management by the 2022 report of Carbon Disclosure Projectt (CDP). This represents a great sustainable success for the company, being the first time it has entered the leadership category by the CDP.

The report, published by the non-profit organization, reaffirms Vidrala's environmental commitment. The CDP rating shows a company's transparency and environmental performance, in line with the Taskforce for Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Science-Based Targets (SBT) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These ratings assess the awareness of each company regarding environmental issues, their methods of managing sustainability strategies and advances in area of environmental protection.

By partnering with CDP, the companies reinforce their sustainability strategies with an aligned operational focus on achieving the 1,5 degrees goal, avoiding deforestation and ensuring safety in water management issues, while offering their groups of interest a vision of the path they are going to follow in the future.

vidrala continuously promotes sustainability in the manufacture of glass and its activity. For this reason, it recently announced the validation of its Science-Based Targets (SBT) in the short term, which positions it as the first shop window to set such ambitious goals in this field. With the SBTs, the company aspires to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 47% and its Scope 3 emissions by 28% by 2030. In December 2022, Vidrala also presented its goal of SBT Net-Zero in the long term to the SBTi and is currently awaiting validation.

These announcements are a clear example of the success of Vidrala's sustainable strategies not only in Spain, but also in the United Kingdom through encirc, your company in the country. In line with his strategy, it recently announced plans to build a new hydrogen-fuelled furnace at its Elton plant in Cheshire, which will produce the world's first net-zero emission glass bottles at scale by 2030.
