March 22th 2024

Hinojosa

Hinojosa Packaging Group continues to expand its international presence with the acquisition of the Italian company MS Packaging. With the incorporation of the two plants located in the towns of Salerno and Arzano, Hinojosa enters the Italian market, one of the most relevant in the paper and cardboard sector in Europe.

MS Packaging is an Italian family group specialized in the manufacturing and marketing of paper and corrugated cardboard packaging. It is made up of a packaging factory and a paper mill with a strong presence in the food and beverage market. The company, which had a turnover of 2023 million euros in 60, will maintain its entire workforce of nearly 200 employees.

Hinojosa integrates MS Packaging as it is a company that shares the same philosophy based on innovation, the most advanced technology, sustainability, as well as proximity to the customer. With the incorporation of MS Packaging, Hinojosa has a workforce of 2.900 employees and 24 production plants located in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy.

This operation coincides with the start of Hinojosa's new 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, after consolidating its growth in the last three years. This is a new stage in which the company focuses on internationalization, to continue expanding the offer of sustainable packaging.

Hinojosa bills 739 million euros in 2023

Hinojosa closed last year with a turnover of 739 million euros, 10% lower than the previous year, with the decrease in raw material prices as the main factor. Hinojosa has been able to pass this cost reduction on to its clients, after a previous period characterized by inflation in raw materials and energy.

The international expansion was consolidated during 2023 with the acquisition of 49% of the French company ASV Packaging, which allowed it to strengthen its presence in France and improve the service and product offering to European customers. The presence of plants in France, along with those in Portugal and Spain, has led to growth that has also translated into a 10% increase in staff in its network of work centers.

The firm commitment to decarbonization It is another of the company's main objectives, taking into account its ESG commitments to the environment. In this area, last year ended with very positive results: the reduction of emissions and the carbon footprint by 22% compared to the previous year. Added to this data are other equally important data for Hinojosa, such as having achieved a waste revaluation of 95.2%.

Regarding the improvement and expansion of its product offering, 2023 has remained linked to a clear commitment to innovation. Last year, Hinojosa launched Foodservice, a range of 100% recyclable and environmentally neutral primary packaging at the end of its life cycle, intended for beverages and prepared foods.
