Aptar Food + Beverage received the approval of RecyClass for your SimpliCycle TPE-S valve like totally compatible with polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PET) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) recycling streams. RecyClass is a non-profit, cross-sector initiative facilitating the transition to a circular plastic economy.

Aptar's SimpliCycle valve was previously endorsed by the European PET Bottle Platform (EPBP) for its full compatibility with RecyClass guidelines for PET streams, and has now also received full compatibility approval for recyclability in PP and PET streams. HDPE. This achievement provides food and beverage brands with validation that Aptar closures with SimpliCycle valves not only offer more hygienic and controlled product dispensing for consumers, but also contribute to their sustainability commitments by enabling full recycling of the containers.

Aptar's SimpliCycle valves will be commercially available globally in late 2022.

Made of a low-density material, if used in a closure on a PET bottle, when collected with the bottle in the PET recycling stream, the SimpliCycle valve floats in recycling tanks, allowing it to be easily separated from the PET flakes and then recycled along with the polyolefin streams. If used in a closure on a PP bottle, when collected with the bottle, the closure goes directly into the PP recycling stream and is fully compliant, as now approved by RecyClass.

When assembled into an Aptar closure, the SimpliCycle valve provides a high performance, fully recyclable solution for use with PET, PP or HDPE containers. SimpliCycle received the award for Best CSR/Sustainability Initiative in 2021 from the World Food Innovation Awards and in 2022 it won the prestigious 2022 WorldStar Global Packaging Award for Packaging Innovation, as well as the 2022 AmeriStar Award in the Packaging category. sustainable packaging.
