Quadpack and Aptar Beauty + Home They have jointly developed a refillable lipstick, combining their respective knowledge about wood and the mechanisms of the bar format to create a product that offers a great experience to the consumer: the Iconic Woodacity® lipstick.

According to Jeremy Garrard, Director of Market Development at Quadpack, “This has been a project totally based on shared value. Aptar is a valuable partner with whom we have a strong history of collaboration. Now, we've leveraged our complementary technologies, market positioning and customer portfolios to create a refillable makeup solution that makes a difference."

For sergi berthet, Vice President and General Manager of Beauty EMEA at Aptar, “This solution combines Aptar's expertise in prestige lipstick mechanisms with Quadpack's expertise in high-end wood solutions. Our partnership has created an innovative, high-quality refillable lipstick that reflects our common goal of creating a sustainable future for the packaging industry."

Iconic Woodacity® Lipstick is premium packaging designed for minimal impact and maximum customer engagement. Incorporates the Aptar Iconic Mechanism, recognized as the quality standard by the main makeup brands in the world, and offers a fluid, constant and precise rotation over time. It provides high reliability and is compatible with most filling lines without the need for modification. Manufactured without polyoxymethylene, without glue and without lubricants, it allows the fluid movement of the bar.

The mechanism is presented in a monomaterial shell custom designed and manufactured by Quadpack, made with 100% certified ash wood and sourced from sustainably managed forests. The wood brings natural beauty and adds a sensory element to the container, which opens and closes in new and intuitive ways. The patented 'Solo Twist' system features an oval-shaped interior, which causes the cap to friction close with a quarter turn. This turning system is a novelty compared to standard click closures.

The lipstick is easy to refill: customers simply remove the old mechanism and snap on the new one. It also allows them to have different colors and introduce the one they want that day, which further reduces the impact of the packaging.

All packaging is made in Europe. The mechanism is manufactured by Aptar in Chavanod, France, (formerly Aptar Reboul). Aptar Chavanod uses renewable energy, and 95% of the waste generated in production is reused or recycled.

The wooden packaging –with PEFC™ certification (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) or FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) on demand– is made in Quadpack's wood factory in Catalonia, where a biomass plant transforms waste from energy production.

Iconic Woodacity® lipstick will be marketed by Aptar and Quadpack.
