cinfa has awarded today the resolution of a ecopackaging challenge launched through the open innovation platform of the Más Empresa ecosystem of Ibercaja. The pharmaceutical, businesses of the ecosystem, proposed in May to the startups who wanted to participate in a challenge that sought improvements in sustainability in medicine packaging. These advances are a priority for Cinfa which, however, require special care, since the pharmaceutical sector has very strict quality and safety standards, and packaging solutions must meet a long series of requirements that guarantee that the storage conditions of the drugs are appropriate.

In this regard, the startup FYCH Technologies, based in Alicante, provided a solution based on the recycling of blister packs and envelopes using delamination technology, which consists of a mechanical recycling of multilayer packaging, in which the adhesive that glues each of the layers is dissolved, so that the materials are separated and can be recycled as pure materials. This proposal has been highly valued by Cinfa which, in collaboration with the startup, is considering the launch of a pilot project along these lines.

Likewise, as a result of the challenge, FYCH Technologies has been the beneficiary of the 6.000 euro prize awarded by Cinfa, which has been collected today by Oksana Horodytska and Andrea Cabanes, managers of the company. Both have stated that “this recognition helps us further to validate that our value proposition and technology is applicable to all markets. Until now we had mainly focused on packaging for the food and cosmetics industry; thanks to Cinfa, now we will also be present in the pharmaceutical sector”.

The recognition was given during a conference organized by the Ibercaja Más Empresa ecosystem to promote organizational transformation and open innovation. Julio Sanchez Marinas, head of Innovation at Cinfa, explained that "establishing synergies between organizations brings benefits both for large companies and for small startups and entrepreneurs. But the most important thing is that, thanks to them, projects are launched quickly and agilely, which in the end result in the benefit of society in general. Our collaboration with Ibercaja through Más Empresa, and the recognition that we have jointly granted to FYCH Technologies, makes us especially proud, because it means promoting a project to achieve a more sustainable world. With it, we meet one of the objectives of our CinfaNext innovation platform, by supporting a pioneering initiative that promotes the balance between caring for the environment, economic development and social well-being.”
