Coveris has made a breakthrough in thermoformed film packaging with the development of its recyclable solution, MonoFlex Thermoform. The innovation Coveris MonoFlex Thermoform provides a sustainable alternative to the non-recyclable materials currently used for thermoforming packaging in the food sectors.

Offering an innovative and recyclable solution, Coveris MonoFlex Thermoform films are developed from monomaterials high performance, allowing the change of thermoformable substrates from non-recyclable mixed materials, achieving a reduction in the carbon footprint.

Aligned with Coveris' No Waste sustainability strategy, MonoFlex Thermoform recyclable solutions are produced from polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) and do not contain nylon (PA). Manufactured at Coveris plants in Germany and the United Kingdom, MonoFlex Thermoform can be produced from laminated or co-extruded films of a single substrate, depending on the product application and printing requirements.

MonoFlex Thermoform offers advanced EVOH barrier properties for product protection and shelf life, which is also supported by its strong puncture resistance. The expertise of Coveris' Film Science Lab and the testing capabilities of the Pack Innovation Center were instrumental in the innovation process, from developing film formulations to validating their performance, including barrier characteristics.

Developed with a wide operating window, MonoFlex Thermoform maintains previously achieved packaging speeds and allows seamless changeover from alternative substrates.

Products suitable for MonoFlex Thermoform include a range of bakery items and other applications in the meat, fish, poultry and dairy sectors.

MonoFlex Thermoform is available unprinted or with a printed top film. The top film is available with conventional and HD flexographic or gravure printing, including matte, glossy and tactile lacquer finish options for consumer appeal, attractive shelf presentation and communication of product information. Product communication can also be achieved on non-printed films as a secondary process with Coveris' leading labeling solutions.
