alpine, manufacturer of tubes, mandrels, rings and cardboard pallets, has presented his first Sustainability Report in relation to the year 2020 with the impact of its activity focused on the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.

With it, the company carries out a transparency exercise on its contribution to sustainable development and responds to its performance and impact on ESG matters; environmental, social and governance.

Thus, the company, which has 168 employees and 100% of its suppliers evaluated with environmental criteria, has determined that its activity had an impact on 12 of the 17 SDGs.

In the environmental field, where the circular economy is the basis of your business, reduced Greenhouse Gases (GHG) by 12,26%. This reduction occurred mainly for the replacement of 29.733 wooden pallets with Upalet, made of 100% recycled cardboard, manufactured by the company itself (SDG 13 and 7).

Various other measures, such as improving the efficiency of machinery or making it easier for the office staff of its three plants (Tavernes de la Valldigna, Martorelles and Puente Genil) to telecommute, reduced the emissions generated by the commuting of workers to their posts (SDG 13).

The company reduced its electricity consumption and improved energy efficiency by increasing energy from renewable sources (SDG 7 and 13). Thus, it reduced the GHG emissions generated by its electricity consumption by 13,57%, by carrying out various actions in the manufacturing and technical facilities of its work centers.

In addition to replacing equipment with new ones, with new generation motors and variators, the company also increased the percentage of energy from renewable sources to the detriment of fossil fuels, through the installation of solar panels that generated 31.446 kWh in 2020.

Within the environmental aspects, the report includes the reduction in water consumption which, with a total of 8.025 m3, was 5% less than in 2019. This reduction was possible thanks to the company's internal policy for efficient water use, SDG 6.

Finally, the company also carried out measures in the social plane and in the governance.
