The Catalan startup Bumerang will present two circular economy solutions at 4YFN, an event held alongside the Mobile World Congress : a smart return machine and 'Bumerang Tap'. Founded in 2020, Bumerang is the first system in Spain for returnable containers for takeaway food and drinks, with no deposit required and free of charge for the user, provided they return the container.
The first intelligent return machine, using reuse systems with RFID technology, allows the user to return the container autonomously.
For its part, Bumerang Tap is the first reuse system using NFC technology, which allows the user to assign a returnable container without having to use a mobile application.
Bumerang has more than 30.000 registered users, of which 5.500 actively participate in its packaging reuse network.
Bumerang's strategic collaboration with collective catering companies in Spain, with companies such as Agbar, Dow Chemicals, Towa, L'Oreal and Amazon, reinforces its impact. Under its proactive approach to waste reduction, Bumerang has concentrated its efforts in the hospital sector and works with more than 35 hospitals throughout the territory, with the goal of achieving zero waste.
