pizza packaging

Smurfit Kappa has developed an innovative packaging that optimizes the pizza supply chain. It is quick to assemble, improves distribution by 50%, maximizes retail operations and includes an anti-grease surface treatment that guarantees contact with food.

Also, this new solution for prepared pizza it respects the placement of the ventilation holes and uses 6% less cardboard surface for its production, which implies being able to transport 50% more packaging per pallet and 25 fewer trucks per year, taking as an example an amount of 2 million of annual units. This means significant logistical savings and lower distribution and material costs, improving working time in replacement, palletizing, etc. In figures, this saving exceeds 70.000 euros: more than 40.000 euros in the packaging itself, more than 3.000 in palletizing and almost 27.000 in logistics.

Some savings that also reach sustainability, since this pizza box helps retailers reduce their carbon footprint by 48 Tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of charging almost 6 million smartphones.

Ana vargas, Retail Manager of Smurfit Kappa Spain | Portugal | Morocco, ensures that "with this packaging we wanted to minimize the complexity in the management of the store from the supplier until the packaging is placed in the cardboard container, where the retailer also obtains important economic benefits. For us it is very important to find the best solution to our customers' problems, and with this ready-made pizza box we have succeeded."
